Solo Exhibition
False EleganceMarch 6 – March 18, 2026
Anicoremix Gallery will present the solo exhibition “False Elegance” by Kaoming from March 6 to March 18, 2026, as part of a special project celebrating the gallery’s 5th anniversary.
Anicoremix Gallery was founded in Harajuku in 2021 and has worked to create a physical space that connects artists and fans. Over time, more visitors began returning for each exhibition, and the gallery gradually evolved beyond simply being an exhibition venue into a place where people could gather and feel a sense of belonging.
Even after the gallery closed its physical space in 2024, visitors from both Japan and overseas still occasionally come searching for Anico, which we deeply appreciate.
This exhibition follows the strong response to the 2023 solo exhibition “WET” and celebrates the publication of Kaoming’s second art book.
The women depicted in Kaoming’s works are not present simply to be viewed. Each appears to inhabit a moment within a personal world, expressing innocence alongside a quiet but unmistakable sense of intention.
Although their gaze faces the viewer, it never directly speaks. Instead, viewers are guided into the position of observers, witnessing the presence of these figures from a distance.
They seem almost within reach, yet remain untouchable. It is precisely this sense of inviolability that forms their allure.
What lies beneath the elegant surface coating of beauty is something quietly concealed.
In Harajuku, a place where individual expressions of love are freely and boldly presented, this exhibition once again brings together the elegant characters Kaoming has consistently developed over the past several years.
Works featured in the art book “Miyabi -MIYABI-” will be presented alongside pieces previously shared on social media over recent years.
The images depicted here inhabit an ambiguous space between the transgressive feeling of a body exposed under daylight and the dazzling illusion of a dream.
False elegance—impulse coated in grace.

Anicoremix Gallery will continue, in new forms, to serve as a bridge connecting emerging illustrators with audiences.
We look forward to seeing you again online.
